Workplace Mediation

Balance - chairsThe workplace mediation service has grown out of our core business of supporting people experiencing difficulties in the work place. It complements Balance’s mission by promoting harmony in the workplace and sustainable employment.

Why mediation?

Too many workplace conflicts end in disciplinary processes or legal battles. These take their financial toll in terms of management time and absence of the employee involved through sickness.

It doesn’t have to be this way.

Mediation can provide an effective alternative. Mediation can reduce the pressures on management, the costs of dismissing an employee through disciplinary processes as well as increasing productivity through creating a more harmonious workplace.

What is mediation?

Mediation is an informal confidential process where both parties involved voluntarily sit down with an impartial mediator. Typically it takes place over the course of a single day. The morning is taken up with the mediator meeting each party to the dispute individually before bringing them together for the remainder of the mediation day.

75% of cases settled on the day of mediation or shortly thereafter

The goal of mediation is for both parties to speak with each other in an open and honest manner to try to resolve the dispute in a manner that is acceptable to them both. Whatever is agreed during the mediation is decided by the parties involved rather than the mediator.

Why choose Balance?

Over the last decade Balance has developed unparalleled local expertise in helping organisations and their employees resolve disputes.

Our accredited mediators have worked with local employers from the very biggest to the smallest to help resolve conflict without the need for costly and time-consuming disciplinary or legal processes.

it really has made a big difference... I can now look forward going to work once again
