Our staff want to achieve a healthy balance too!

The Greater London Authority established the London Healthy Workplace Charter in 2012 to encourage public and private sector organisations to commit to measures, which will support the health and wellbeing of their staff.

Balance staff have started working towards the Charter with monthly health focused events starting with Active 4 Life’s ‘Dry January’ initiative and we are currently organising ‘Love Yourself in February’ by thinking about personal wellbeing and how we look after ourselves as a team.

The London Healthy Workplace Charter focuses on eight areas:

  • leadership
  • attendance at work
  • health and safety
  • physical activity
  • healthy eating
  • mental health and wellbeing
  • smoking
  • alcohol and substance misuse

Measures include encouraging staff to get more active, for example by using the stairs at work rather than the lift, cycling to work, or getting off the bus a few stops earlier.
